The Union is all of us. The Officers are listed below for your reference.
President
Marsha J. McCartney, Ph.D.

Marsha McCartney says that she got involved with UAKU because she always believed in the power of unions, so joining UAKU was an easy decision for me. What has made me even more committed is seeing the power of collective action and what we can accomplish when we come together. I’m incredibly proud of the contract we won and of what we’re continuing to build together!
Vice-President
Amalia Monroe-Gullick
Social Sciences Librarian at KU

Amalia Monroe-Gulick got involved with UAKU for equal pay and a fair grievance process that guarantees representation during workplace disputes.
Grievance Officer
Ben Chappell
Professor, American Studies

Ben Chappell has been involved in unionization efforts at KU since 2016. In the campaign to build UAKU, he served on communications, solidarity, and organizing committees, and he joined the bargaining team to negotiate our first contract. He is always willing to converse at length about his interests, including his grown sons, public transit, obscure coffee-making equipment, and union choir.
Secretary
Stephanie Kajpust
Lecturer, Mathematics Department

Stephanie has always been passionate in making students feel heard. That passion extends to faculty as well. Stephanie got involved in the union to help ensure that lecturers and adjuncts don’t have their voices lost among the tenure-track majority, and to help make KU a better place for all faculty.
Treasurer
Zach Mohr
Professor, School of Public Affairs and Administration

Zach Mohr is passionate about public finance and making organizations work better. He believes that UAKU can help make KU work better and serve the members.
Executive Members at Large
Liz Burghout
University Carillonist and Associate Professor of Music at KU

Liz Berghout, UAKU Member-at-large, feels strongly that all KU faculty and academic staff should be treated with respect and equity and that our contract is the way to ensure that happens. When she’s not at work, she enjoys gardening and playing with her grandchildren
